Tall Pines where my Mom is.....

And one for the backyard!

A Dear Friend!

A dear friend of mine, Orion, passed away on Wednesday of this week.  I will miss her so much.  I met Orion at Wellspring Brampton when I was recovering from breast cancer treatment.   She too was a survivor.
Orion had a wonderful positive attitude and a great sense of humour.  She loved her family and she loved life!  I knew right from the start that we were kindred spirits.

We had many things in common....we both were retired teachers, we both had daughters that are teachers and we were both enjoying rediscovering knitting and crocheting. We spent many hours sharing stories, working out patterns, and just enjoying each others company.

Orion put up a long and spirited battle against this terrible disease.  Her zest for life and learning was inspiring to all who knew her.

We are a close supportive group, the Knitters at Wellspring, and Orion will be truly missed.

Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo!

This week I supply taught in a class that was going to the Metro Toronto Zoo.   Great Trip!

I realized I hadn't been there in a long time when I found out that two things I remembered being there the last time I was.....are not there now.....No Monorail....and No McDonald's.....that really dates me...

We had a great time....and even the weather co-operated...not too hot and only a sprinkle....

And I got to hang out with my pal, Melzi....so what could be better....

The first animal my group wanted to see was Wolves!.....go figure....

Then we were off to the Polar Bears..

Gardening

We are way behind with our gardens this year it has been so wet......so we spent the weekend trying to catch up...here are the results....

part flowers....part herbs...chives,thyme, oregano, sage....

more herbs.....cilantro and rosemary...

basil and Italian parsley....

This is lettuce that Lindsay gave me for Mother's day ...we have made several salads and had it in many sandwiches....very convenient....

Tomatoes!

Hanging basket....

We have had countless Maple keys falling...it has been so hard to keep the deck clean....

And now out front....

We have added several new perennials to the front yard...

and a few annuals for colour.....

We can't wait for it all to take....
